I'm having a clear up (out) - Part 3

I did a short online blackwork course at Classic Stitches several years ago. This first project was a bold mushroom shape and grid pattern. I liked the front, but it was abit uninspiring. BUT the back is wonderful!

I'm having a clear up (out) - Part 2

I 'found' this purple sampler that I did in 2004. I really enjoyed stitching it (I think it was from a pattern in Classic Stitches...). Now I have rediscovered it, I'm going to frame it and hang it. Its very traditional and delicate and I love the tiny beads...

And the backside, which is even more delicate...

When I get some time I'll detail each band, a la Sharon B.

Sad

It is my Mum's birthday today. Its been creeping up on me all week. There are so many things I miss about her.

Knitting - my scarf, reworked

I ripped out my scarf (here) as it was too long and straggly. After two attempts with smaller needles I have decided on 10mm needles to make a scarf based on this lovely woven effect scarf.

Nearly half way through now. It needs to be finished ASAP. Its soooooo cold.

My chicken scratch handwriting in context along with the back side back stitch portrait in my black and white fabric book. More to do on these pages...

Stitch Explorer 2009 - Chicken Scratch

Sharon B's challenge for 2009 is Stitch Explorer where you explore a stitch or style. Her first style is Chicken Scratch.

I haven't done any stitching yet but I did photocopy some gingham and pasted it into my sketchbook, and I did some doodling...

I think I'll also try some polka dots as a background.

I'll hopefully get some stitching done in the next week...

I like the optical illusion that happens when you doodle on the squares. It makes the squares appear darker, even though they are the same colour as the surrounding squares.

Another version of chicken scratch is of course illegible handwriting...

The Scottish Bead Fair

There is a bead fair in Perth on Sunday 8th March at Perth Concert Hall. found via Handmade in Scotland,

Although I'm sure she would love all those shiny, sparkly teeny tiny beads, I won't be taking Toddler Girl...

Knitting - Socks

I have tried twice this evening to cast on and knit my second sock. I have failed twice. I keep dropping, twisting and making stitches on the first few rows. I will try again tomorrow. I hope I'm not going to be a one sock wonder...

Here are the lovely socks that my friend Karen (the professional artist) knitted for me.

I really do need to knit another one...
