ArtCubes - update

using my Terri Stegmiller
fabric - ArtCubes.

Exhibition 2009 - Pom Poms

This piece is inspired by Toddler Girl's Pom Poms, casually scattered across the floor and by the black & white stone pieces I worked on last year. It is for a local exhibition in August 2009. You can read the first instalment here.

I have printed my photos and sorted my threads and created my pom pom templates...

Exhibition 2009 - Pom Poms

This piece is inspired by Toddler Girl's Pom Poms, casually scattered across the floor and by the black & white stone pieces I worked on last year.

I like the randomness of this and the bright colours, the round shapes, like dots on the floor.

I think this photo inspires bold and interesting studies of colour and stitch.

Some further scatterings produced these...

I hope to make several smaller studies using a variety of stitches and then make a big one to satisfy this desire...

Exhibition 2009

Have I mentioned I have another exhibition in the local cafe in August this year?

I did one last year

I was reasonably happy with what I achieved last year and I still have several ideas that I have yet to explore...

Forth Street I
To The Windmill
Boatyard

For the past week I have trying to get a plan of action for this year's exhibition... I haven't been doing much actual stitching recently... just idea generation!

So the fruits of my deliberations are...

Pom Pom studies - inspired by this and this
Touch
Lantern - inspired by this and this

I am being less ambitious with the variety of pieces this year. I need more time to explore ideas thoroughly.

I suppose the over riding theme this year will be colour and stitches...

ArtCubes - in glorious technicolour..

I have started a wee stitching project (yes, needle and thread... not knitting!) using my Terri Stegmiller fabric - ArtCubes. It looks great so far! Still very early days... come back in a year and I might have it 'finished'...

I especially like these flowers...

each square is 1.25"

Scottish Arts Council - Own Art

I picked up a leaflet about the Scottish Arts Council scheme offering interest-free credit for people to buy contemporary art and craft.

You can buy paintings, sculpture, prints etc through participating galleries.

Really like this idea...

Although it maybe goes against the current credit crunch grain of living modestly within your means rather than living on tick...
