new fabric

My mother in law brought me back some fabric pieces from New Zealand.

I'm thinking more hexagons...

The top right fabric is from the same collection as this fabric I bought for my needle roll.  One bought in New Zealand the other bought in  Lower Largo, Fife.

Sewing - Hexagons

This weekend I looked out my Hexagons and did some stitching...

I decided on 6 colours of stranded cotton and used a stab stitch, backstitch and blanket stitch around the printed flowers.

Think I'll pick out the flower centres next.

Sewing - Hexagons

The hexagons are sewn together... some better than others.  I need to remember to pull the whip stitch tighter.

I now want to add some applique...

I'm not sure how I'm going to add them...  I had thought I would use brightly coloured embroidery thread and use blanket stitch, running stitch etc and possibly add some further embellishment.

Looking at it, I'm now thinking I will simply 'circle' the flowers with black thread...
