Pom Pom - Felt Studies
It did look like this
But then I got abit impulsive with a pencil and started sketching lines, which I didn't like... I then washed it which surprisingly removed the pencil marks but the colour ran... oh dear.
So I started again
Still a work in progress but I'm not sure I like this version either...

Pom Pom - Felt Studies
I've made a start on the felt pom poms...
I'm finding it very difficult to take photos just now, just can't get the right time of day to show true colours.

Pom Pom - Samples
I'm revisiting my scattered pom pom idea. I first blogged about it here in May 2009.
Ideas I've considered include embroidery stitches (long, short, knots, seed), fabric (applique?), fabric paint and stitches, and combinations of all of them.
I'm going to start with felt circles...
As I was laying these out I imagined a meandering black line doodling over them, circling round the shapes.
But first I played around with a photo editor...
Using the last layout I did some doodling with a pen...

Exhibition 2009 - Pom Poms
This piece is inspired by Toddler Girl's Pom Poms, casually scattered across the floor and by the black & white stone pieces I worked on last year. It is for a local exhibition in August 2009. You can read the first instalment here.
I have printed my photos and sorted my threads and created my pom pom templates...

Exhibition 2009 - Pom Poms
This piece is inspired by Toddler Girl's Pom Poms, casually scattered across the floor and by the black & white stone pieces I worked on last year.

I like the randomness of this and the bright colours, the round shapes, like dots on the floor.
I think this photo inspires bold and interesting studies of colour and stitch.
Some further scatterings produced these...

I hope to make several smaller studies using a variety of stitches and then make a big one to satisfy this desire...
