Pom Pom - Felt Studies
I've made a start on the felt pom poms...
I'm finding it very difficult to take photos just now, just can't get the right time of day to show true colours.

Sewing on Leaves - update
Original post here in Oct 2009, it did look like this...
and it now looks like this:-
I've stored it a folder, unpressed and unpreserved. The colours have faded and some of the leaves have cracked as they have dried, but its still lovely to look at.

Pom Pom - Samples
I'm revisiting my scattered pom pom idea. I first blogged about it here in May 2009.
Ideas I've considered include embroidery stitches (long, short, knots, seed), fabric (applique?), fabric paint and stitches, and combinations of all of them.
I'm going to start with felt circles...
As I was laying these out I imagined a meandering black line doodling over them, circling round the shapes.
But first I played around with a photo editor...
Using the last layout I did some doodling with a pen...

Knitting - Scrappy Scarf
I've had my eye on this lengthwise scarf pattern for a while. Using 4 ply I had in my stash I did a swatch on 4.5mm needles, yielding 6 stitches per inch.
I want a 60" scarf which means I need to cast on 360 stitches...
eek.
wonder how long each row will take?

Book - Stash Buster Quilts
I recently got this book from the library. Although its a little hardcore quilting, a bit beyond my current patchwork hexagons, I loved this quote...
"...what we have to realize is that the longer a piece of fabric stays in a stash, the more it loses its power and attraction. It needs to be taken out, shaken, grouped with others that give it new life, as it gves new life to them."

Polka Dots
I'm going to an 80s themed party tonight (Happy Birthday Paul). In the mid 80s I was in my teens and camera shy.
I started the decade with naturally wavy hair, by the mid 80s I had a perm and then I got it all cropped and streaked red, thankfully I went back to naturally wavy by the start of the 90s.
I remember I had lots of plastic jewellery in bright acidic colours - matching bead necklaces, bangles and earings. Mostlystolen borrowed from my older sister.
I had stirrup trousers in fuschia with a matching batwing sleeved top with Delicious written on it in puffy paint.
Tonight I'm doing a Strawberry Switchblade... If only I was this cool in the 80s...
